Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)

“Applied Behavior Analysis is the science in which tactics derived from the principles of behavior are applied systematically to improve socially significant behavior and experimentation is used to identify the variables responsible for behavior change” (Cooper et al., 2007, p. 20).

We encourage families to make educated decisions by exploring ABA as an evidence based therapy. Programming should be individualized and supervised by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA).

Focused ABA (up to 14 hours/ week) and comprehensive ABA (15-40 hours/ week) programs are:

  • 1 to 1 support
  • Centre based
  • Supervised by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA)
  • Individualized goals created in collaboration with families (i.e. life skills, social skills, communication skills or behavior reduction goals)
  • Parent coaching to optimize generalization and maintenance of skills

Group based ABA

  • Small group (less than 1:5 support)
  • Large group (more than 1:5 support)
  • Supervised by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA)
  • Individualized goals created in collaboration with families (i.e. life skills, social skills, communication skills or behavior reduction goals)
